Adair June Holmes, 83, died June 15, 2008, in Stillwater, Okla. Mrs. Holmes was born June 19, 1924, in Exeter, to Jerry and Agnes Krupicka. She attended country school until fifth grade and graduated from high school in the Tobias Public School District. Following graduation she attended the National Business Institute in Lincoln. Her first job was for the Yellow Cab Company. Mrs. Holmes later completed the curriculum at the Lincoln School of Cosmetology to become a beautician. She worked for Lucille Duer in Seward for 11 years and also took a real estate class. She married Robert J. Holmes Sept. 27, 1949. They lived in Seward for 20 years, where he worked in the fertilizer business and she worked as a secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. She and her husband moved to Imperial and then to Clinton Ill., where she worked as a bookkeeper for the Ford Motor Company. Following her husbands death in 1985, she moved to Stillwater, Okla., to be near her sister. Mrs. Holmes was an avid decorator and enjoyed modern decor and color and music, playing trumpet in an all-girl band and taking organ lessons from a television performer in Nebraska. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Stillwater. Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by husband Robert and brother Ricky Krupicka. Survivors include sister and brother-in-law Sharral and Ernie Tye; brother Ronald Krupicka, Milligan; nieces and nephews. Services will be July 2, at 10 a.m., at the Seward City Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Judith Karman Hospice, 915 S. Main, Stillwater, Okla., 74074. |
