Adelaide "Addie" Melissa Ruegg of Seward, Nebraska was born on August 16, 2016, to Douglas and Cassandra (Gruber) Ruegg in Omaha, Nebraska. She went home to be with Jesus on Friday, September 23, 2022, at 6 years of age.

Addie's life was nothing short of a miracle!  She was born with an underdeveloped brain, no eyes, severe heart defects, and was placed on a respirator after she was born. After surviving longer than expected, she had multiple surgeries to repair her heart and a tracheostomy to assist her weak lungs. God is much bigger and wiser than our human minds can comprehend. Every single human is fearfully and wonderfully made by Almighty God. Addie is not defined by her "defects," but by the Creator who lovingly designed her for a special purpose. Though her life was short and frail, God made her for His glory. I Corinthians 1:27-28 KJV - But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

Addie absolutely loved her siblings and her cousins. She was a daddy's girl and loved her mom very much. She enjoyed listening to music and being read stories. She had a very peaceful home-going. Her family is incredibly thankful to the Lord for the 6 precious years that He allowed her to live on earth.

The family is very grateful to the many medical professionals at Children's Hospital at Omaha, Ambassador Health, Lincoln Pediatric Group, Tabitha, and HoriSun Hospice as well as ESU6 staff and Seward ED for their compassionate care of Addie.

Addie was preceded in death by her grandpa, Timothy Andrew Ruegg; a cousin, Seth Graham Semin, and four cousins born to heaven.

She is survived by her parents, Doug and Cassie Ruegg; siblings, Lila Kearstyn Ruegg, Benjamin Douglas Ruegg, Azmaveth David Ruegg, Gideon Andrew Ruegg; grandparents, Dennis and Melissa Gruber, Peggy Ruegg; aunts and uncles, Courtney Ruegg, Beth and Tim Semin, Eryn Ruegg, Abby and Mick Huntley, Jordan and Laura Ruegg, Hannah and Jonathan Ciochon, Isaac Ruegg, Kevin Ruegg, Lucas Ruegg, Felicity Ruegg, Nathaniel Ruegg, Noah Ruegg, Taylor and Jacob Parker, Allie Gruber, Cameron Gruber, Jared Gruber; and 20 cousins.
