Alan Thomas Hofer was born January 31, 1984 in Seward, Nebraska to Eric Lee and Teresa Lynn (Hayek) Hofer and passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2010 in Central City, Nebraska at the age of 26 years, 5 months, and 7 days. Alan was a 2002 graduate of Seward High School. He attended Southeast Community College - Milford and graduated in December of 2003 with an Associates Degree of Applied Science in Manufacturing, Engineering and CAD Technology. Alan worked at Even Temp in Waco for a short period of time. He was restless and uncertain of his career choice so returned to the University of Nebraska to pursue a career in education. Alan graduated in May of 2008 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and Human Services. Alan began his teaching career at High Plains Community School in Polk, Nebraska in the Fall of 2008 as an Industrial Technology teacher and he remained in that teaching position through the current time. Alan was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church in Seward. Alan enjoyed many things in his life, to say one thing was his true passion couldn't possibly sum it up. Everything he did, he did with a passion and energy greater than what could fit in one room. One of his greatest loves was wrestling. He enjoyed coaching the students at High Plains School, to be a part of wrestling again filled him with joy. He also enjoyed fishing and camping, it was activities like this that made him feel truly at peace. Music was an especially important part of Alan's life, he loved playing his guitars, he was rarely without one in his hands. Jamming with his brother was the very first thing he did when he got home to Lincoln on the weekends. He had a huge appreciation for his sisters artistic talents which he constantly encouraged. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his friends and family. Alan's cousins on both sides of the family were extremely important to him. Alan also had a huge place in his heart for all children and animals. Alan is survived by his parents, Eric and Teresa Hofer of Seward; brother, Ross Hofer of Lincoln; sister, Hanna Hofer of Lincoln; his true love and soulmate, Lindsay Parker of Lincoln; grandparents, Lynn "Hodge" and Carol Hofer of Seward and Tom and Lois Hayek of Ulysses; aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Alan. |
