Alan James Hotovy was born June 8, 1948 in Seward, Nebraska to John Benedict and Sylvia A. (Mares) Hotovy and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on March 25, 2011 at the age of 62 years, 9 months, 17 days. Alan attended Assumption School in Dwight and was a 1966 graduate of East Butler High School in Brainard, NE. Alan was a graduate of Milford Trade School in the Auto Body Program. He served his country in the U.S. Army reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. Alan worked for Louis Kolar Mobil and in 1991 he started Al's Repair in Dwight and through the course of the years received numerous mechanic awards. Alan was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight. He was a member of the Dwight Rural Volunteer Fire Department for 42 years and during that time was a former Assistant Chief, EMT and training officer and was a member of the Dwight Rural Fire Board for 33 years. He was a member of Dwight American Legion Post No. 110 for 40 years and served as the post bugler for over 35 years. Alan and Loretta Ann (Slama) Jisa were together for 40 years and were united in marriage in Omaha, Nebraska on January 22, 2011. Alan is preceded in death by his parents, John B. and Sylvia Hotovy and his brother-in-law, Duane Swoboda. Alan is survived by his wife, Loretta Jisa Hotovy of Dwight; Loretta's children and their spouses, Ray and Marla Jisa, Seward, Leonard and Lineah Jisa, Valparaiso, Cindy Allen, Dwight; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; special family members, Jim and RaeAnn Mastny, Dwight; brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Diana Hotovy, Dwight, Roger and Janelle Hotovy, Lincoln; sister, Sharon Swoboda, LaVista; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Alan. |
