Obituary

Alan Mark Loewen was born December 6, 1948 in LeMars, Iowa to Cornelius and Anna Marie (VanAsselt) Huisman and passed away in David City, Nebraska on March 4, 2014 at the age of 65 years, 2 months, 26 days. Alan lived with and was adopted by Ernest and Gertrude (VanAsselt) Loewen. He was a 1968 graduate of Alton High School in Iowa, now called Morris-Orange City-Floyd Valley Community Schools. After high school, Alan worked as a general laborer and then owned a lawn spraying and lawn care company in Utah for 11 years. He moved to David City in 2003 and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Alan was a former carrier of the Columbus Telegram newspaper. Alan enjoyed fishing and bowling and was a member of a league in Columbus. Alan is preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Anna Huisman and his adoptive parents, Ernest and Gertrude Loewen. Others preceding Alan in death are his brothers, "C.J." Clair Huisman and Claude Huisman. Alan is survived by his son, Eric Alan Loewen and fiancé Kali Diekevers, of Boyden, Iowa; brother, Marv Loewen, Blue Earth, New York; sisters, Janice Loewen, Sioux City, Iowa, Carolyn Pollock, Omaha; half-sister, Tanya Huisman; sister-in-law, Roberta "Bobbie" Huisman, David City; nieces and nephews and friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Alan.
