Obituary

Alice Ann (Mouchka) Ulch passed away on October 13, 2016. Alice was born to George E. Mouchka and Nadene (Mall) Mouchka on October 25, 1938 in Belle Plaine, IA (Benton County). Alice was a 1956 graduate of Belle Plaine High School. She married John R. Ulch of Elberon, IA at the First Congregational Church in Belle Plaine on February 10, 1957. They are the parents of four sons: John D., David, Brian and Craig. Alice was a Sunday School teacher and Cub Scout Den Mother. In the 1960s she was instrumental in persuading the Belle Plaine School Board to form a committee to reapportion the school election districts to comply with the U.S. Supreme Court decisions on equal representation and was named chairperson of the committee. On December 30, 1973 the family moved to a home west of Goehner, NE. She was an active member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Goehner, Beaver Crossing American Legion Auxiliary and served on the Family Selection Committee of the Seward Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Alice enjoyed bookkeeping and clerical work. She worked at the Tamora Co-op and the Seward County Assessor's Office. Over the years her past times included following her sons sports activities (especially wrestling), reading, refinishing furniture, playing cards, walking, traveling and fishing with her husband (in good weather).

Alice is survived by her husband John of 59 years; sons: John D of Lochbuie, CO; David (Tami) of Elkhorn; Brian "Fred" of Goehner; and Craig of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren: Derek Ulch, Austin Ulch both of Omaha; Haley Gabel of Rogers; and Sara Ulch of Santa Maria, CA; sisters Joyce (Blair) Williams of Marion, IA; Donna (Ron) Pyle of Prosper, TX; brother Dean (Roxie) Mouchka of Wheatland, IA; brother-in-law Harold (Joyce) Ulch of Cedar Hill, MO; plus cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents George and Nadene; brother Donald; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dale (Ruth Ann) Ulch and brother in law Baby Johnnie.
