Alois James Hottovy was born January 9, 1920 in Dwight, Nebraska to Anton M. and Gabriella A. (Codr) Hottovy and passed away in David City, Nebraska on November 6, 2007 at the age of 87 years, 9 months, 28 days. Alois was a 1937 graduate of St. Mary's High School in Dwight, Nebraska. On May 5, 1942, he was united in marriage to Marie Pavel at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Utica. To this union four children were born. Alois was a lifelong farmer and a member of the American Angus Association. Other memberships included Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight, East Butler School Board, Plum Creek Township Board and a leader for the Plum Creek 4-H Club. Alois was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Gabriella Hottovy; his sons, Michael Hottovy and Jerome Jerry Hottovy; daughter-in-law, Dottie Hottovy; great-granddaughter, Anna Rose Prochaska; brothers, Raymond Hottovy and Ivan Hottovy; sister and brother-in-law, Georgia and Albert Hain. Alois is survived by his wife, Marie Hottovy of David City; daughter-in-law, Ruth Hottovy of Brainard, and her family, Bill Hottovy of Brainard, Dean Hottovy of Dwight and Krista and Paul Prochaska of Wahoo; son and daughter-in-law, Al and Clete Hottovy of Omaha and their family, Tina and Shawn Casper, Dawn and Mike Danley and Joy and Tim Willoughby, all of Omaha; son and daughter-in-law, Bernard and Yvonne Hottovy of Lincoln and their family, Father Jamie Hottovy of Prague, Zach Hottovy of Lincoln, Brian Hottovy of Fort Collins, CO and Mark Hottovy of Lincoln; four great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Francie Hottovy of Dwight; sister, Marie Snyder of Greeley, CO; sister-in-law, Francie Hottovy of Valparaiso; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Alois.
