Alvin Herrold Jr. was born in Seward county on August 26, 1924 to Alvin and Irma (Westerhoff) Herrold and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on April 3, 2012 at the age of 87 years, 7 months, 8 days. Alvin grew up in Seward county and attended Leahey Elementary (District 46) and then graduated from Seward High School in the class of 1942. Alvin married Shirley Swanson on June 20, 1948, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Staplehurst, Nebraska and their marriage was blessed with three children, A.J., Russell, and Lori. They farmed in Seward for 63 years. Alvin's hobby was his love of farming, he was a livestock feeder and loved working especially with his Hereford cattle. Alvin was Past Board member and President of the Seward County Co-op. He was also a member of the Seward County Livestock Association, a lifetime member of the Seward United Methodist Church. Alvin and Shirley enjoyed playing cards with a host of friends. Alvin loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alvin is survived by his children, A.J. Herrold, III and wife, Pat, Russell Herrold, Lori Kreimer and husband, Kent Imig; grandchildren, Jesse and wife Karen Herrold, Rachelle and husband Scott Calahan, Dustin Herrold and fiancé Stacy Hotovy, Lauren Kreimer, Riley Kreimer; great-grandchildren, Kristoff, Dyson, Vancent, and Teyla Herrold, AnnaLivia and MacIntyre Calahan; sister-in-law, Romelle Johnson; brother and wife, Dale and Carol Herrold; Jon Kreimer and a host of friends. Alvin is preceded in death by his wife Shirley; parents, Alvin and Irma Herrold; infant grandson, Derek Herrold; parents-in-law, Lawrence and Winnie Swanson; sister, Lorrene and husbands, William Coufal and Loren Brunke; brother and wife, Thomas and Elsie Herrold; sister and husband, Margaret and Walter Scamehorn; sister, Alvina and husband Donald Beckman sister-in-law and husband, Lucille and Murvil Daehling; brother-in-law, Dick Johnson.
