Obituary

Anita Louise "Annie" Kozisek was born on September 12, 1951, in David City, Nebraska to Ladislav and Mary (Truksa) Pekarek and passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, in David City, Nebraska at the age of 73 years, 5 months and 22 days. Annie was baptized at Presentation Church in Bellwood on September 23, 1951. She received her first communion on April 5, 1959, and was confirmed on January 31, 1962, both at Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight.

Annie grew up in Dwight where she attended Dwight Assumption School and East Butler High School, graduating with the Class of 1969. Following high school, she attended Colorado State University in Pueblo, Colorado and graduated with her LPN certification in 1973. Annie was united in marriage to James Fleming on November 14, 1971, and to this union one daughter, Cathy Fleming, was born. Annie then continued her education at Creighton University through Mary Lanning in Hastings, where she received her RN degree in 1981. During her 30-year career as a nurse she was employed with Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, St. Elizabeth Regional Med Center in Lincoln and Butler County Health in David City. Annie was united in marriage to Bernard Kozisek on June 26, 1998. In her free time, Annie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, taking pictures and framing them, decorating her home and completing crossword puzzles. She was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Joseph and Aloysia Pekarek, Anton and Antonia Truksa; sisters-in-law, Polly Pekarek, Irene Kozisek; niece, Lauren Pekarek; several aunts and uncles.

Survivors cherishing her memory include her husband of 26 years, Bernard Kozisek; daughter, Cathy and husband, Dan Martin; step-children, Greg and wife, Megan Kozisek, Ranae Smith; grandchildren, Sidney and Austin Matthias; grandchildren, Jay and Lynn Smith, Reese and Grant Kozisek; sisters, Teresa (Daryl) Behrends, Lincoln, Mary (Dave) Brady, Lincoln, Jeany Jasnoch, Lincoln, Patricia (Lew) Keller, Lincoln, Loretta Pekarek, Omaha; brothers, Jim Pekarek, Stromsburg, Jerome (Norma) Pekarek, Dwight; sisters-in-law, Darlene Kucera, LuAnn Hofpar; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Emma Rose and Doug McGee; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
