Annetta Meta Marie Anna Dickinson, daughter of Ernest and Emma (Ehlers) Nicolaus was born in Staplehurst, Nebraska on December 3, 1908. Nettie passed away in Seward, Nebraska on February 8, 2011 at the age of 102 years, 2 months, 5 days. She was baptized January 10, 1909 at Zion Lutheran Church at Marysville, Nebraska and also confirmed at the same church on May 13, 1923. Nettie attended school in Staplehurst. She was united in marriage to Frazier E. Dickinson on July 25, 1926 at Zion Lutheran Church, Marysville. Their marriage was blessed with one son, Dale Lee Dickinson. They lived most of their married life in Seward County. Nettie was employed at the Harley Varner Store in Staplehurst before her marriage and after her marriage worked in the grocery store for Virgil Rennick, then at Hinky Dinky (where she was the first female checker), at Hand Grocery and the Ernie Vrbsky Store. Nettie enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, bridge and bingo. Nettie was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward and LWL. Nettie is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Emma Nicolaus; her husband, F.E. "Jack" Dickinson; her son, Dale Lee Dickinson; brothers, Emil and Theodor Nicolaus; sister, Edna Bluhm and great grandson, Matt Dickinson. Nettie is survived by her daughter-in-law, Dolores "Pat" Dickinson of Seward; five grandchildren, Claudia and Thomas Rathbun of Lincoln, Connie and James Jessen of Lincoln, Douglas and Sharon Dickinson of Seward, Todd and Becky Dickinson of Cedar Rapids, IA, Christie and Milan Brehm of Unadilla; 13 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; sister, Irene Slonecker of David City; nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
