Ardeth Elaine Rader was born on October 5, 1932, in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Theodore "Ted" and Phyllis (Cannon) Wirz and passed away on January 11, 2023, in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 6 days. She lived in Broken Bow until age 9. Her family then moved to the Sandhills. She attended school in Broken Bow until the 4 th grade, then attended several country schools. Ardeth attended and graduated from Dunning High School with the Class of 1950. She went on to attend college in Kearney.
Ardeth had a love of teaching. She taught in country schools as well as 2 nd , 3 rd , and 4 th grades in Dunning. She also taught pre-school deaf children in Wichita, Kansas. She met the love of her life, Marvin Rader, and was united in marriage on September 21, 1952. To this union four children were born, Steven, Ronald, Susan and Sharon. Ardeth took care of Steve, so she didn't work outside the home anymore. They enjoyed life and were married almost 58 years. The couple lived in El Paso, Texas for three months until Marvin was sent to Korea. They also lived in Dunning, Kearney, South of Dunning, Halsey, Wichita, KS, De Witt, NE and from 1965 until her death in Lincoln, NE.
Marvin and Ardeth had seven grandsons and loved to attend anything they were doing. She bragged on all of her grandchildren and was very proud of their accomplishments. She was privileged to have many close friends and many of her happiest times were spent with them. Each one was special and shared different stages of her life. Ardeth loved to travel, and she and Marvin were able to take many trips together that she always treasured.
Ardeth was very active for many years at Dunning Congregational Church as well as the Vine Congregational Church in Lincoln. She was also a longtime member of First Plymouth Church in Lincoln. She sang with the Lancaster County Chorus for over 30 years, was a member of Rebekah Lodge #150 and for many years Uni #239 and Vesper Lodge. She also belonged to the Glamorous Gals Red Hat group.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted & Phyllis Wirz; husband, Marvin; son, Steven; grandson, Brian Boring; parents-in-laws, Seth & Ida Rader, sister-in-law, Vivian M. Saner; brother-in-law, Ben Saner; special friend, Arlene Fenske Bergstrom.
Survivors cherishing her memory include her children, Ronald Rader, Lincoln, Susan and Neil Boring, Lincoln, Sharon Brewster, Lincoln; son-in-law, Bill Brewster, Lincoln; grandchildren, Matthew Boring and wife, Hanna Pinneo, Casey Boring, Brady Brewster, Bailey Brewster, Michael Rader and fiancé, Brittany Johnson, Andy Rader, and Sam Rader; brother, Gary Wirz, El Paso, TX; special friends, Shirley Hayne, Edna Duryea, Barb Winter, Jonna Peterson, Linda Mahloch and Christy Rossiter. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of a life shared with Ardeth.
