Arlene Betty (Kinney) Jensen was born February 27, 1925 in Lincoln, Nebraska and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on May 10, 2011 at the age of 86 years, 2 months, 11 days. Arlene attended school in Benedict, Nebraska. She was confirmed in 1947 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York, Nebraska. On August 8, 1948, Arlene was united in marriage to Lyle O. Jensen, also at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Their marriage was blessed with one son, Eugene. Arlene attended St. John Lutheran Church in Waco and St. John Lutheran Church and LWL in Seward. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards and making trips with the Seward Senior Center to the Casinos. Arlene was funny, loving and respectful of those who were friends and family. She worked most of her life as a cook, waitress or hostess. She operated her own caf'e in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska from 1972-1974. She loved to garden and enjoyed her flowers, especially carnations and roses. Arlene is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lyle Jensen in 1985. Arlene is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Eugene D. and Rhonda Jensen of Seward; her grandchildren, Mark and Andrea Whitley, Robert and Carla Taylor, Roy and Ashley Rasmussen, Aaron Jensen and Matt Jensen; great-grandchildren, Kaylin and Mason Whitley, Timmy and Carl Taylor, Nevaeh Rasmussen; other relatives and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Arlene. |
