IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arlene M.
Sedlak
July 20, 1938 – November 1, 2023
Arlene Mae (Dvorak) Sedlak was born on July 20, 1938, in Valparaiso, Nebraska to Ernest and Antoinette (Rezac) Dvorak and went to her heavenly home on November 1, 2023, in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 12 days. Arlene grew up in the Brainard and Valparaiso areas where she attended Saunders District #113, graduating in 1955 from Brainard High School.
After graduation, Arlene moved to Lincoln where she was employed at Brandies and Russell Stover Chocolates. Arlene met and married Richard Sedlak on April 5, 1956, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard. The couple lived in Dwight where she was a homemaker. They made the move to Seward in 1966. Arlene worked at several places in Seward. She enjoyed being a bus driver for the Seward School District and Seward County Transit.
Arlene liked to play cards, listen to polkas, go dancing, and fishing. She was the queen of decorating for the holidays, especially at Christmas. Arlene enjoyed cooking for her family. She chose to live her life serving others, not even realizing she was doing it because it was something that came naturally to her.
Arlene was a longtime member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, PCCW, served as a CCD teacher and was a member of the Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Sedlak, Sr.; two sons, Dana and Benedict.
Survivors cherishing her memory include her six children, Allen (Lisa) Sedlak, Hastings, Sheri (Doug) King, Lincoln, Shelly Sedlak, Seward, Richard (Joyce) Sedlak, Jr., Lincoln, Brian (Anne Fadler-Rogers) Sedlak, Denver, Keith (Natalie Kreutz) Sedlak, Seward; grandchildren, Kristine (Tim) Flesner, Nolan (Cassidy) Sedlak, Kellsie (Steve) Ham, Brandon King, Kolton Sedlak; great-grandchildren, Grayson and Norah Flesner and a host of friends.
