IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arnold R.
Boldt
September 20, 1937 – June 12, 2017
Arnold Ross Boldt was born September 20, 1937 in Douglas, Nebraska, the son of Harold and Mary (Corzine) Boldt. Arnold passed away at Ridgewood Rehabilitation and Care Center, Seward, Nebraska on June 12, 2017, at the age of 79 years, 8 months, 23 days. Arnold was a 1955 graduate of Douglas High School where his musical talents had only just begun. It is there where he met his lifelong partner. He was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Phillips on December 15, 1957 at the Methodist Church, Douglas, Nebraska. They were blessed with three children, Jeffrey Lynn, Glenda Ann and Melanie Mae.
Arnold was a hard worker and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In his early years he worked as a service station attendant, a milk hauler and in construction with Beall Construction before settling into his true passions of farming and dairy. Arnold enjoyed working his farm and taking care of his dairy cattle, as he would say, "no prettier animal than a Holstein". Often times he whistled while he worked, always carrying a song in his heart. They made their home in Vesta and Douglas before settling into the Seward area in January, 1963 where he farmed and operated a Grade A Dairy and later was a Pork Producer. He served on the boards for D.H.I.A., Blue Valley Coop and Seward County Zoning Variance. He was a long-time member of the Seward United Methodist Church serving on numerous church boards, and an active member of the church choir. Arnold was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club of Seward, member of the KiTone chorus and was presented with an award for 29 years of service as a member of the Kiwanis Ag Banquet Committee. He was a longtime member of the "Goehner Centennial Players".
Arnold was an artisan and took great pride in making beautiful furniture keepsake pieces for his family, i.e., cedar chests, jewelry armoires, mangers, clocks, etc.. His favorite pastime was performing and entertaining; sharing his whistling and singing talents with numerous small to medium groups in a variety of settings. His whistling would mesmerize the audience; absolutely breathtaking. He acclaimed the name of "The Whistler" throughout the Seward community and beyond. Sharing his talents with others, making beautiful memories, working hard and serving the Lord all-the-while remaining a humble man is what made "Arnold, Arnold".
Arnold is preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law, Forrest and Pearl Phillips, one brother, Gary, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jack and Evonne Scheib.
Arnold is survived by his wife Sharon, son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Barb Boldt, Carroll, Iowa, daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Tom Chambers, Norfolk, Nebraska and daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Steve Brandenburg, Seward, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, Jeff and Rebecca Boldt, Santee, CA , Kristin and Joseph Wendt, Lincoln, NE, Travis and Jade Chambers, Omaha, NE, Stephanie Chambers and fiancé Van Dang, Omaha, NE, Brittany Boldt, Kansas City, MO, Brandon Boldt, Iowa City, IA, Taylor Boldt, Iowa City, IA, and Malynn Brandenburg, Lincoln, NE.
