Barbara Ann (Fitch) Taylor was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on September 21, 1932, the daughter of James Floyd and Florence Marie (Lux) Fitch and passed away at Ridgewood West Care Center in Seward, Nebraska on November 29, 2009 at the age of 77 years, 2 months, 8 days.
Barbara was a 1950 graduate of Sacred Heart School in Fort Dodge and a graduate of Fort Dodge Community College. She worked as a technician at the Atomic Energy Commission in Ames, Iowa. Barbara was married to Marvin E. Taylor on June 14, 1954 and their marriage was blessed with four children, Michael, Mark, Michelle and Mary Suzanne. The family moved to Seward, Nebraska in 1966. Barbara was very devoted to her church, beginning at age 14; she served as sacristan at the Catholic Church in Fort Dodge and Creston, Iowa and in Seward until she became ill with Parkinson's/dementia and diabetes in 2004. She was a dedicated volunteer for many years at Crestwood and Sunrise Nursing Homes in Milford and at Sundermann Homes in Seward. Barbara loved being a mother and grandmother. She was known for her consideration of others and always welcomed people with a smile. She was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, Altar Society and PCCW in Seward.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Florence Fitch; sister, Ruth L. Jenk and sister-in-law, Linda Fitch.
Barbara is survived by her husband Marvin Taylor, Seward; son, Michael Taylor, Seward, son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Nanette Taylor, Lincoln, daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Tony Humlicek, Lincoln, daughter and son-in-law, Mary Suzanne (Sue) Taylor and Dennis Seckler, Nutley, NJ; brother, James J. Fitch, Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Katie and her husband Tim Frisch, Travis and Lauren Taylor, Kirsten Humlicek, Madeline and Sophie Seckler; very special friend, Jody Arneson and many other friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Barbara.
