Bernice "Beanie" Ruth Haas was born on June 13, 1926, in Seward to Walter Ralph and Frieda (Rolfsmeier) Graff and passed away on August 12, 2016, in Lincoln at the age of 90 years, one month and 30 days. Beanie grew up on the family farm and attended Seward schools. She graduated with the class of 1943.
Beanie began working at Jones National Bank while she was in school; she continued to work at the bank until she was united in marriage to Kenny L. Haas on March 9, 1947, at the Friedens United Church of Christ in Seward. Beanie was a homemaker and helped Kenny farm until 1967, and then she started working again at Jones National Bank. She retired from the bank in 1989. After her retirement, Beanie and Kenny enjoyed traveling to Arizona in the winters. This was something they did until Kenny's health started to fail in 2001.
As a couple they enjoyed volunteering. They helped with Habitat for Humanity, Lied Senior Center, Eastern Star where she served as the Past Worthy Matron. They also helped organize Rainbow Girls and Beanie served as a Mom Advisor. She was a former member of the Goehner Grange and Daughters of the Nile. Beanie believed in giving back to the community and helping whenever she could. She loved to bake, especially cinnamon rolls. Beanie was a huge supporter of her children and grandchildren. In her later years she especially enjoyed a good game of cards with her family and her friends at the senior center. She was so positive even when she was so sick. Beanie was a cup half full not half empty type of person. Beanie was so grateful for all the visitors while she was hospitalized and at Ridgewood. She loved being with other people.
Beanie was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Kenny in 2002, infant son and brother; Meurice Graff.
