Betty Jane Aegerter 1921- 2011 Daughter of Guy and Hazel Evans, born July 26th 1921 in Tamora Nebraska. Raised with sister Lauraine and brother Paul in Seward Nebraska, where she graduated from high school in 1939. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. In 1942, three years after high school graduation, she reconnected with classmate Arden Aegerter at a chance meeting on the steps of the Seward County Courthouse. They were engaged later that year and married in 1943. Arden then attended Army Air Corps Officer Training school focusing on RADAR and navigation. During WWII he flew missions as a Boeing B-29 Navigator in the South Pacific. Their son Jon was born December 31, 1945 while Arden remained over seas until the conclusion of the war. Betty Jane was confirmed into the Lutheran church that summer as a surprise for Arden. Upon Arden's return to Seward, they moved to Oklahoma City, OK, where he was a Livestock Fieldman. They returned from Oklahoma City to Seward in 1950 and their other son Anthony (Tone) was born in 1953. The family moved to Ralston, a suburb of Omaha Nebrasks in 1962 when Arden became a manager of Ak-Sar-Ben. In 1967 they relocated to Seattle, where Arden was named Managing Director of Seafair a large civic organization. They lived in a home in north Seattle looking down to Puget Sound and across to the Olympic Mountains. Betty loved the many small dogs and cats they owned over the years, often traveling to the Ocean for weekends with the current favorite. Their yard was filled with interesting plants, tall evergreen trees, and many varieties of colorful flowers that mirrored the festive wardrobe of Betty for formal and informal occasions. Betty always had welcoming smile and a sincere (and spot-on) compliment or conversation starter for friends known for years or for minutes. She will be missed by all those people and remembered with their hearts. Betty is survived by her husband of 68 years, Arden, her son Tone and wife Cheryl, her son Jon all residing in Seattle, and her sister Lauraine and husband Chuck Langner of Tyler Texas. |
