Betty L. Cooper, daughter of Theodore and Annetta (Brandt) Nicolaus, was born December 31, 1932 in Osceola, Nebraska. She was baptized on January 9, 1933, and on June 9, 1946 she confirmed her faith in the Lord at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, York, Nebraska. Betty attended York Public School and graduated with the class of 1950. Betty married Jack G. Cooper on November 7, 1954 in York at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. The couple lived in the rural Goehner area all of their married life. She was employed by Seward Memorial Hospital and Protective Fire Insurance Company. In later years she spent most of her time raising their son, Michael and helping her husband on their farm. After Jack passed away, Betty worked part time for Seward County Ford and D & S Leasing.

Betty was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Goehner, Nebraska. She taught Sunday School, Bible School, was a member of the choir and Lutheran Woman's Missionary League. Betty enjoyed making crafts and being involved with Goehner Centennial Players.

Betty passed away in Denver, Colorado on October 7, 2010 at the age of 77 years, 9 months, 7 days. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 1997, her mother and father, Annetta and Theodore Nicolaus and her brother, Bill Nicolaus.

Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lynnette Cooper of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; her granddaughters, Audra, Ashley, and Alissa Cooper of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and her brother, Donald Nicolaus of Tonasket, Washington; aunts, cousins and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Betty.
