Betty Lou (O'Dell) Shook was born June 12, 1946 in Seward, Nebraska, the daughter of John Robert and Nellie Marie (Kilzer) O'Dell and passed away on March 17, 2016 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 69 years, 9 months, 6 days. Betty was a 1965 graduate of Seward High School. Betty was the mother of six children, Jay, Judy, Joy, Jerry, Jeff and Jenny. Betty was employed through the years as a CNA at various nursing home facilities including, Goldsmith, Sundermann and Lancaster Manor. She also worked at Metromail in Seward and at the "This n That" store in David City for a few years. Betty enjoyed going to the skating rink and serving as a swimming lesson instructor ; she really liked helping people. Betty attended Hillcrest Evangelical Free Church in Seward. Betty had lived in Lincoln since 2002.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Nellie O'Dell; her son, Jeffrey D. Shook; brother, William "Bill" O'Dell and Dennis O'Dell; grandson, Gary Richard Shook; great-grandson, Dustin Shook; and her sister, Rebecca Ann Sampson.
Betty is survived by her loving family: children and spouses, Jay and Tammy Shook, Lincoln, Judy Shook, Seward, Joy Shook, Seward Jerry Shook, Hastings, Jenny Shook, Milford; grandchildren, Scotti Shook, John Shook, Quentin Shook (Kayla Luethke), Laura and Brad Spiehs, Stephanie Holmes, Author Shook, Skylar Shook, Mackenzie Shook, Brianna Shook; great-grandchildren, Hannah Shook, Kylee Shook and expected great-granddaughter, Nadia Shook; brothers and sisters-in-law, John R. "Dick" and Karen O'Dell, Seward, Ron and Margie O'Dell, Kingman, AZ, Tom and Becky O'Dell, Bee; sisters-in-law, Debby O'Dell and Sharon O'Dell, both David City; brother-in-law, Tom and Stella Sampson, Nashville, TN and a host of friends.
