Brent Neil Butzke was born on September 8, 1985, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Neil and Cynthia (Diers) Butzke and died on November 20, 2012, in a paragliding accident near the Santa Clara River in Ventura County, California at the age of 27 years, 2 months and 12 days. He attended school in Seward and graduated from Seward High School in 2004. He attended Southeast Community College for two years then attended The Art Institute of California in Los Angeles earning a Bachelors of Science degree in Video Production. Brent was an amazingly talented media artist. He had an uncanny knack for picking out the most interesting elements in an ocean of footage and then putting it all together in remarkable ways. He took a great deal of pride in coloring images to enhance the viewer experience, and his mark as a colorist is clearly evident in both "The Story" (2010) and "Winter" (2011) feature film projects. One of his colleagues said of Brent, "Anyone who had the honor of working alongside him appreciated that he was one of the most creative minds to ever cross our threshold." Brent was a kind, compassionate, spiritual person who loved life to the fullest. He was a dear son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He loved hunting, paragliding, surfing and snorkeling. He loved his family and friends with a passion and cared deeply about all of them. He always had time to listen and loved catching up with loved ones. Anyone he met was touched in a positive way. He will be forever in our hearts. He is survived by his parents, Neil and Cindy of Seward, brothers, Nate of Lincoln, Ryan and wife Sahra and niece Thalia of Lincoln, grandmother, Sylvia Dey of Gresham, many aunts, uncles and cousins, and an ocean of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Brent.
