Brian August Ficke was born on June 20, 1977, in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Ruth Speer and Dan Ferris. He was welcomed into the home of Wayne and JoAnn (Lohmeier) Ficke in Pleasant Dale, NE as a small infant and permanently joined the Ficke family shortly before his 1st birthday. He entered his eternal home on April 17, 2025, in Pleasant Dale, Nebraska at the age of 47 years, 9 months and 28 days. He was baptized on September 7, 1980, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pleasant Dale, Nebraska and confirmed on November 8, 1992, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Brian grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska where he attended and graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School with the Class of 1996. After high school, he worked on numerous farms around the area. One of his favorite jobs was working at Jake's Horses in Big Sky, Montana.

Brian enjoyed camping, fishing, bonfires and listening to music. He loved anything Western and participating in rendezvous. Brian loved watching Little House on the Prairie and he was also an avid hunter. He was known to have two nicknames, Outlaw and Cowboy. Brian loved his family and never forgot their birthdays or anniversaries. He was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Brian was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Lora and husband, Scott Doty; niece, Heather Doty; aunts and uncles, Wendy Lohmeier, Jean Riley-Schultz and husband, Gerry Schultz; Lester and Mildred Ficke; longtime friend and cousin Gene Ficke and great-niece Kalliope Kay Stokes.

Survivors cherishing his memory include his wife, Angel Ficke, Pleasant Dale; daughter, Laura Ficke, Pleasant Dale; parents, Wayne and JoAnn Ficke, Lincoln, siblings: Jeff and wife, Barb Ficke, Blue Springs, NE, Jerry and wife, Cindy Ficke, Beatrice, Tracy and wife, Betty Ficke, Dorchester, Andy Ficke, Lincoln, Amanda and husband, Ryan Forry, Lincoln, Angie Ficke, Lincoln, Daniel Ficke, Lincoln, Jordan Ficke, Lincoln, Lynne Ficke, Lincoln, Jonessa Ficke, Lincoln; biological mother, Ruth Speer, Grand Island; aunt, LuAnn Lohmeier and husband, Pat Yost; uncle, John and wife, Marilyn Lohmeier; half-sister, Nikki House; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
