Obituary
Chandos Burdette "Burt" Edwards was born September 22, 1933 in Butler County, Nebraska to Guthrie Watson and Harriett Elizabeth(Andrew) Edwards and passed away on May 6, 2018 at his home in Ulysses, Nebraska at the age of 84 years, 7 months, and 14 days. Burt attended school in Ulysses and started working immediately for Hughes Brothers in Seward. He owned Burt Edwards Construction for several years also working at Concordia College for 10 years. Burt was on the Ulysses Village Board "on and off" for 20 years and provided town maintenance . For over 17 years Burt worked at David Place in David City until his retirement.
Burt was united in marriage to Margery A. Kamprath and to this union two children were born, Roxanne and Kevin. After Margery's death in 1972 Burt was united in marriage to Thulla M. (Shepard) Schiessl on July 18, 1981 in Ulysses, Nebraska.
Burt was a longtime member of the Ulysses Methodist Church, for over thirty years an active member of the Ulysses Volunteer Fire Department-serving as Fire Chief for over twenty years, and a life member of the NRA(now an endowment member).
Burt was preceded in death by his parents, Guthrie and Harriett Edwards; his wife, Margery; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Vivian and Leonard Cordes, Marjorie and Richard Harvey; and his brother, Villrie Edwards.
Cherishing his memory are his wife of 36 years, Thulla, Ulysses; his children, Roxanne Stewart, Lincoln, Kevin (Jean) Edwards, Omaha; his three grandchildren, Amy Christensen, Jillian Stewart, Jeremy Edwards; his two great grand children, Makayla Barcenos and Addison Barcenos; his step children, Danny Schiessl, Nevada, Shannon (Jeffrey) Swanson, St. Paul, NE, and Angela (Jess) Thacker, Maumee, Ohio; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Burt.
