Charles Robert Woodruff was born February 19, 1929 in Ulysses, Nebraska to Charles Bryan and Mary Olive (Lewis) Woodruff and passed away on June 7, 2012 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 83 years, 3 months, 19 days. Bob was a 1947 graduate of Ulysses High School and attended Nebraska Wesleyan University. Bob served his country in the U.S. during the Korean War. On July 17, 1955, Bob was united in marriage to Gloria Louise Reetz at Kramer, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Kenneth, Morris and Gayle. They moved to Seward following their marriage, to the farm in 1979 and then back to Seward four and a half years ago. Bob was employed with Concordia UniversitySeward and Walker Manufacturing. Bob was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Rising City and Seward American Legion Post #33. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Woodruff; his brother, Gerald Woodruff and his sister, Donna Woodruff. Survivors include wife, Gloria Woodruff, Seward; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Barb Woodruff, Seward and Morris and Denise Woodruff of Jefferson City, Missouri; daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Dennis Mattox of Sargent, Nebraska; six grandchildren, Alyson Woodruff, Ryan Woodruff, Katie Woodruff, Laurie Woodruff, Rosemary Woodruff and Neal Mattox; sister-in-law, Polly Woodruff of Bellevue; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
