Carol Ann Ahlschwede was born on September 8, 1951, in York, NE; to Clarence E. and LaVerna E. (Knudsen) Blum and passed away on March 11, 2015, in Seward, NE; at the age of 63 years, 6 months and 3 days. Carol grew up on the family farm near Waco, NE. She attended school in Utica and graduated from Centennial High School with the class of 1970. Carol was united in marriage to Gary Lee Ahlschwede on June 17, 1972, at St. John Lutheran Church south of Waco. She was a stay at home mom until 1982, when she began working at Concordia for several years. Carol also worked at Sundermann Nursing Home and then enjoyed watching her grandchildren. Carol loved making baby blankets, crocheting and being with her family and especially her grandkids. Carol spent the past four years living at Sunrise Country Manor in Milford, Nebraska where she enjoyed arts, crafts and participating in social activities with other residents. Carol was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Goehner. Carol is survived by her children, Angela and husband Scott Kreikemeier of Lincoln, Mitchell and wife Karri Ahlschwede of Lincoln, June and husband Corey Campbell of Grand Island; her mother LaVerna Blum of York; 11 grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Dean and wife Verla Blum of York, Gary and wife Lori of Gretna, Ruth and husband Rick Thorne of Casper, WY and Doris and husband Joel Zullner of Campbell; two sisters-in-law, Brenda and husband Philip Herrmann of Hastings and Beverly and husband Dale Vonderohe of Norfolk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary in 2000 and her father Clarence in 2006.
