Caryl D. (Besse) Schulz was born March 4, 1932 in Seward, Nebraska the daughter of Ray, Sr. and Kathryn (Finnicum) Besse and passed away on Monday, September 7, 2015, at the age of 83 years, 6 months, 3 days. Caryl attended school in Seward and Beatrice and was a 1950 graduate of Lincoln Northeast High School. She worked at Love Library on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus prior to her marriage. On November 3, 1979 Caryl was united in marriage to Lloyd Allen Schulz in Goehner, Nebraska. Caryl and Lloyd lived near Goehner all of their married life. Caryl was an active member at Friedens United Church of Christ in Goehner where she served as the church organist for over 30 years and was also the choir director. She also enjoyed her participation in Clown Ministry. Caryl was the originator of the Goehner Melodrama and loved her numerous roles on stage and the coordination of the performances through her many years of leadership. Caryl is preceded in death by her parents, Ray, Sr. and Kathryn Besse; her sisters, Arlene Klein, Jane Aegerter, Kathryn Engel, Barb Krause and brothers, Ray Besse and Richard "Dick" Besse and her granddaughter, Danielle (Rogers) Harre. Survivors cherishing Caryl's memory include her husband, Lloyd Schulz, Goehner; children, Deb and Ben Rogers, Omaha, Jim and Laurie Runyan, Omaha, Lori Schulz, Goehner, Patrick and Kathy Runyan, Seward; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Charlotte Besse, Seward; many nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Norman Schulz, Roland Schulz, Marvin "PeeWee" and Marilyn Schulz, all Seward; other relatives and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Caryl. PLEASE NOTE: Due to work on the railroad crossing all day Thursday heading west out of Seward on Highway 34 an alternate route will be needed to Goehner.
