IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Chelsey R.
Kosmicki
February 18, 1993 – March 28, 2025
Chelsey Renee Kosmicki was born on February 18, 1993, in Seward, Nebraska to Dan Zitek and Holly Stull. She passed away on March 28, 2025, at Bryan West in Lincoln following complications after a fall.
Chelsey grew up in the Seward and Staplehurst areas. As a little girl, she loved being on the farm or outdoors spending time with animals and her Grandpa Keith. She and her cousins would spend hours together, always finding something to do. She loved her brother time too. As she grew up, she created a circle of friends who became family, they were inseparable. She enjoyed softball trips, her flag team, and any activity she and her group could attend throughout her school years. She graduated from Seward High School in 2011, then attended UNL, later earning her Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
On May 31, 2013, Chelsey was united in marriage to Eric Kosmicki. This union brought four incredible children: Kason, Kendall, Beckham and Logan, who made her so very proud to be their Mommy. This title filled her heart with the utmost love for her little ones.
Later on, Tyler and River Bockoven joined Chels and her little gang of four. Chels & Tyler enjoyed working together at the café and tackling this new business venture together, working together on fun house projects and being outdoors. The family loved their pets, cooking and games. They enjoyed all the silliness they could together. Movie nights, other family hobbies and nighttime big couch cuddles before bed were family favorites.
At the age of 15, Chelsey set out to land her first job which took her straight to the café. Chels loved her café family, working there until it closed. She then went to work at Toast in Lincoln while caring for her family and earning her degree from Doane. Her love for the café never ended, so she set out to buy and reopen the café in Seward, bringing her café family back together. Her and partner, Lacey Koch, served their first meal as new owners of Café on the Square, fulfilling a dream. From that day forward, Chelsey did what she loved with a smile on her face. Later, they acquired the Brew House in Crete. As the café grew, she began to make plans for expansion. For the past couple of years, Chelsey, Tyler, Audra, Tim and the rest of the café crew have worked hard to bring Chelsey's vision of Sixth Street Café to life. Chels may not be there on the opening day, but the heart, love and soul she poured into that dream will be there forever.
Chelsey was the most loyal mom, daughter, sister, friend and Tyler's person – his home. Her huge family meant the world to her. When she loved, she loved hard with one of the largest and most kind hearts possible, everyone felt it. She truly cherished all the love she felt in return, and she was always trying to bring people closer. Chels was so funny, adventurous, and always ready to turn nothing into something. She was a selfless, determined force of nature. Her beautiful smile and endless laughter could light up the room. She had a rare gift of seeing the good in everything and everyone. Her genuine love for life and good times were impossible to ignore. From birth to death, she was always hatching a plan. Chels easily turned friends into family, the love she shared and the impact she made will live on in all the many lives she touched. Chelsey was also a hero, as always, her selfless giving – she gave to the end with the ultimate gift of organ and tissue donation.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Keith, Marvin and Mary Lee; stepfather, Don.
Survivors cherishing her memory include her children: Kason, Kendall, Beckham and Logan; parents, Dan & Kristina Zitek and Corey & Holly Stull; significant other and his family, Tyler & River; his parents, John & Linda; brother and wife, Nick & Liz and brother-in-law, Dan; brothers: Jake, Austin & Dallas; sisters, Ryleigh, Heather, Makayla & Mercedes; grandparents, Judy, Jim & Tricia, Jim & Connie and Linda; her beloved pets, Bruno the big dog and Noel the kitty; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends and family.
