Cheryl Ann (Lacey) Hayes was born November 7, 1955 in Pawnee City, Nebraska, the daughter of Clifford Lacey, Jr. and Lois Elizabeth (Broady) Lacey and passed away at her home in Seward, Nebraska on May 10, 2015 at the age of 59 years, 6 months, 3 days. Cheryl was baptized on January 8, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church in Johnson, Nebraska and confirmed on March 22, 1970 at Faith Lutheran Church in Humboldt, Nebraska. Cheryl was a 1974 graduate of Humboldt High School in Humboldt. On September 28, 1974, Cheryl was united in marriage to David L. Hayes in Humboldt and their marriage was blessed with two sons, Ryan and Drew. In 1990, Cheryl and Dave and their sons moved to Seward where Cheryl spent the past 25 years working for the Seward School District as a paraprofessional with the Seward Elementary School and since August of 2000 as a secretary at Seward Middle School. Cheryl loved the outdoors, traveling, working in the yard and her flower gardens; but most of all Cheryl loved her husband, children, grandchildren and her entire family. Cheryl taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and was a Cub Scout Leader. She also served on the Foster Care Review Board and as a CASA Volunteer. Survivors include her husband Dave Hayes of Seward; son, Ryan Hayes and wife Andrea and their children, Ashlyn and Logan, all of North Platte; son, Drew Hayes of Alliance; her father, Cliff Lacey, Jr. of Sterling and special friend, Theoma Pope; sisters, Pam and Tom Usher of Grand Island, Carol and Roger Glathar of Humboldt, Chris and Joel Geyer of Lincoln, Sandy and Bryan Hanson of Lincoln; mother-in-law, Jerry (Hayes) Beem of Falls City; sisters-in-law, Mary Jo and Jim Huettner of Verdon, Sue and Lee Alders of Kansas City, MO; brothers-in-law, Gene Hayes of Chandler, AZ and Keith and Snooks Hayes of Falls City; a host of nieces and nephews and many friends. Cheryl is preceded in death by her mother, Lois Lacey; step-mother, Karen (Haughton) Lacey; father-in-law, Lloyd C. Hayes; step father-in-law, Clarence Beem and her grandparents, Clifford, Sr. and Helen (Illyess) Lacey and Arnold and Marie (Reeg) Broady.
