Clara Hillmann was born on August 18, 1912, in Middle Creek, Nebraska to Gregor and Margaretha (Wempen) Preisinger and passed away on October 19, 2013, at the age of 101 years, 2 months and 1 day. Clara was baptized on November 10, 1912, and confirmed on April 10, 1927, at Middle Creek Church. Clara was united in marriage to Carl J. Hillmann on December 10, 1933, at Middle Creek Church. She lived and worked on the farm south of Seward the rest of her life. She was a homemaker. Clara enjoyed gardening, flowers, making quilts and doing hand quilting. She was a member of St. John's Hand Quilters for many years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Clara is survived by a son and his wife, Gerald and Lynne Hillmann of Seward, NE; a sister, Carolina Stejskal of Lincoln, NE; and a daughter-in-law, Jane Hillmann of York, NE. She leaves behind three grandchildren, Terry and wife Myra Hillmann, Jean Ellen (Hillmann) Coshatt, Gregor and wife Christina Hillmann and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl, one son Alfred, and sisters Anna and husband Martin Kreiser, Ida and husband Martin Gade and Gertrude and husband Edwin Petri. DUE TO RENOVATIONS AT ST. JOHN LUTHERAN CHURCH, THE MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1245 N. 2ND, SEWARD, NE. AT 11:00 A.M. ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2013. VISITATION WILL BE ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE SERVICE AT CHURCH. Memorial may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery or to St. John Lutheran Church.
