Clara L. Jones was born October 14, 1922 in Boise, Idaho to Henry C. and Lavina (Barnett) Steen and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on October 11, 2006 at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 28 days. While riding on a Greyhound Bus, Clara met Rollin Jones and they fell in love. They married on May 20, 1939. To this union they had three children and lived their younger years in Orleans, NE. They moved to Seward in 1963 where she worked at the Seward Memorial Hospital for many years as a cook. She was a fifty year member of Eastern Star, member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She loved traveling, singing, cooking, bingo and making bells to tie on Christmas tree lights and then giving them away. Clara created beautiful quilts and loved wrapping her family in them. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Henry C. and Lavina (Barnett) Steen, son, Roger Jones, brother Barney Steen, sisters-in-law, Virginia Kaylor, Kay Jones and Shirley Steen, brothers-in-law, Floyd, Bill and Clifford Jones. Clara is survived by husband, Rollin W. Jones of Seward, daughter, Linda Lewis of Seward, son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Judy Jones of Danville, CA, granddaughters and spouses, DeNise and Robert Salcetti of The Woodlands, TX, Alexis and Mike Schassberger of San Jose, CA, grandson, Landon Jones of Susanville, CA, great-grandchildren, Kendall and Riley Rundquist and Benjamin and Kathryn Salcetti of The Woodlands, TX, brother, Verne Steen of CA other relatives and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Clara. |
