Obituary

Clarence George Oltman was born May 13, 1925 in Cortland, Nebraska, the son of George and Sophia Catherine (Drewes) Oltman and passed away on October 13, 2013 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 88 years and 5 months. Chuck attended the Cortland School System. Chuck enlisted with the U.S. Army and was inducted September 29, 1943 and was received his Honorable Discharge on April 4, 1946. He served as a technician with the 723rd Engineer Company. Chuck met his future bride Marjorie at PlaMor Ballroom in Lincoln and on June 5, 1950, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Caroline Kentta at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with four daughters, Sharon, Marilyn, Vicki, and Lori. The family lived in Lincoln where Chuck was employed with Roberts Dairy. They moved to North Platte and then in 1967 they moved to Seward where Chuck was the owner/operator of the Dairy Queen and he retired in 1980. Chuck was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Seward; a life member of VFW Post No. 4755 and American Legion Post No. 33 , both in Seward. He was also a member of the Seward Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf and was pleased to have seven holes-in-one and many near misses over several years, the last one being at the age of 80 years. Chuck was an amazing cribbage player and enjoyed playing pool and always had time for his family. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, George and Sophia Oltman; his wife Marjorie Oltman in 2007; sisters, Lorene Oltman and Laverna Ragsdale, brothers, Harold Oltman, Harlan Oltman, and Leland Oltman and a son, Gary Lee Henke. Chuck is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Dave Fitzpatrick, Seward, Marilyn and Jay Oxton, Omaha, Vicki and Brad Kai, Lincoln, Lori and Jim Rausch, Lincoln; seven grandchildren, Kerry Peterson, Samantha Fitzpatrick, Geoffrey Oxton, Chelsea Dickerson, Kaci Johnson, Andrew Rausch and Katie Nietfeld; 11 great-grandchildren, Declan and Dax Peterson, Avery, Davis and Gavin Oxton, Claire and Reed Johnson, Leyton and Evelyn Rausch, Heidi Dickerson, Barrett Nietfeld; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Frieda Oltman, Lincoln; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Chuck.
