MEMORIALS
Donor's Choice in Care of the Family

Clement Gerard Demuth was born in Bellwood, Nebraska, on March 14, 1922 to Nicholas and Margaret (Didier) Demuth, and passed peacefully to the Lord on Wednesday, September 30, 2009.
Clement was one of 6 children, and grew up on a farm in rural Bellwood, Nebraska. On September 4, 1941, he married Geraldine (Schadegg) in Kimball. To this union six children were born, Anthony, Patricia, Thomas, James, Richard, and Gerald. In 1942, one year after their wedding, Clem was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving overseas in Europe until December, 1945.
In August of 1957, Clement was hired by Chevron in California and moved the family from Kimball, NE, where he had owned and operated a Mobil gas station, to El Segundo, CA. Clement and Geraldine and their six children thrived in the small, quaint community and put down deep roots there. In 1977, Clement retired from Chevron, and he and Geri spent their retirement years in Hemet, CA and Chelan, WA, before finally retiring to what they thought would be their final home, in Seward, NE, glad to be returning to their roots.
In March of 2002, Geri passed away suddenly and Clement, wishing to be closer to his children, returned to El Segundo, CA. After a couple of years there, he found the warmth of Sun City, AZ to be more appealing, and made a move. He later decided once again he needed to be closer to his children, and moved to Reno, NV.
Preceding Clement in death were his beloved wife Geraldine, his daughter Patricia A. Dennell, his grandson Michael W. Dennell, his son Richard, his parents Nicholas and Margaret Demuth, and all his brothers and sisters.
Clement is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Betty Demuth, Taft, CA, Thomas M. Demuth, El Segundo, CA, James E. and Carol Demuth, Reno, NV, Debra Demuth (wife of the late Richard L. Demuth) of El Segundo, CA and Gerald and Debra Demuth of El Segundo, CA., 19 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
Clement made the news in 1969 when, socializing with Geri and friends at Alpine Village, CA, he suffered a massive cardiac arrest. He was the first person treated and saved by Squad 59, the newly formed Los Angeles County paramedic unit out of Harbor General Hospital. Clement was featured on a television show, narrated by actor Robert Young, about this first ever rescue by this newly formed team.
Clement was a faithful follower of his Catholic faith, he was a diligent and loving father, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and was loved dearly by his whole family. He was proud of his heritage and could be found telling the stories of his ancestry to whomever would listen.
Clement was loved by his family and admired by his friends. He blessed their lives and will be missed by all.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Reno, NV. Rosary will be on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at 7:30 PM at Zabka Funeral Home chapel in Seward, Nebraska. Graveside services will be at 10:45 AM on October 14, 2009, at Sts. Peter & Mary/Marietta Cemetery near Bellwood, Nebraska with Full Military Honors.
