IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Constance D.
Hannah
May 20, 1949 – January 24, 2025
Constance Dorthey Hannah was born on May 20, 1949, to Hallie and Fern Gould of Haddam, Kansas and left this plane of existence on January 24, 2025, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Connie is survived by her husband, Clifton; son, Arthur Martin and his wife, Shilah; sister, Rosetta Gould; sister-in-law, Bonnie Engel and her husband, Arvon. Connie was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ethyl Gould; brothers, Willis and Johnny. She was well known around the community of Loma, Nebraska where she had many friends and extended family members.
Connie was one of a kind. Once you became her friend you were a friend for life and would often become an extended family member. She was known for her compassion and willingness to help anyone in need. Connie's greatest accomplishment was her gift to school children with dyslexia. As a dyslexic herself, she learned a way to cope with the disorder that was effective and easily taught to school children. Of the first 25 students taught by her method, 24 graduated from high school and the 25th died from an aneurysm. Because of the success of this teaching method, it is spreading from school to school and has even since gone to Africa.
Connie was born into a family of very limited means and at an early age she was placed in the Nebraska Children's home in Omaha along with her younger sister, Ethyl. During her time there, Connie was taken to the homes of many Shriners on weekends and holidays. Forever grateful, every Shriner she met thereafter was greeted with a hug. At the age of ten, Connie was placed in foster care and had a difficult time until she aged out of the system. Only her faith in God kept her going after a 10-year marriage ended in divorce.
In Lincoln, Nebraska Connie met Clifton at a dance and after a whirlwind romance they were married on July 21, 1979. Together, they traversed the next 45 years almost inseparable until her passing. Connie will be missed by relatives and friends from coast to coast.
