Cory Daniel Ruzicka, age 48, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 27, 2023, in the embrace of his wife and son, in their home in Seward, Nebraska. Cory was born on July 11, 1975, in Seward. He graduated from Seward Public High School in 1993 where he was involved in many sports activities, but his involvement in the Choral Music program, including show choir and musical plays, is what he was most proud of from his time at Seward Public Schools. Cory and the love of his life, Heather, brought their son, Sage, into this world on December 26, 2007, and were later joined in marriage on Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.

Cory's passion and talent for working with his hands enabled him to own and operate his own construction company, Ruzicka Construction, for the last 14 years of his life. Through his business he was able to touch so many parts of his home community here in Seward.

Cory will forever be remembered for his selfless giving to those that he held closest to him.

Cory is survived by his wife and son, Heather (Schreiber) Ruzicka and Sage Ruzicka; daughter, McKinley Matlock and her parents and brother, Jill, Mike, and Caleb Matlock of Omaha, NE; father and mother, Joe and Kathy Ruzicka of Seward, NE; sister and brother-in-law, Jen and Glen Harre and their children, Jaxon and Jordan of Springfield, NE, sister and brother-in-law, Kerry and Chad Kremer and their son, Mason of Warrensburg, MO; brother and sister-in-law, Chad and Julie Ruzicka and their daughters, Paige, Grace, Claire, and Reese of Council Bluffs, IA; sister-in-law, Brenda Higgens and her children, Phillip and James Higgins, Téa and husband, Dalton Brumbaugh of Bethel, MO; brother-in-law, Daniel Schreiber of Albuquerque, NM; best friend and chosen brother, Stephen "Deucer" Smith of Omaha, NE; grandmother, Elsie Sullivan of York, NE; mother-in-law, Bonnie Schreiber of Prague, NE; many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
