Cyrill H. Kovar

Cyrill Hubert Kovar was born on November 3, 1931, in Seward, Nebraska to Cyrill F. and Bessie Rose (Hromas) Kovar and passed away on July 8, 2026, at the age of 94 years, 8 months and 5 days.

Cyrill grew up in the Garland area where he attended Garland High School, graduating with the Class of 1949. He was employed and worked on farm machinery for a couple of years before enlisting into the U.S. Army on January 25, 1952, in Omaha, Nebraska. Cyrill was stationed in Germany where he was a Radio Operator. He was honorably discharged on January 18, 1954, at Fort Sheridan, Illinois.

On August 9, 1955, Cyrill was united in marriage to Eunice “Jean” Fiedler at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Seward, Nebraska. The couple lived north of Dwight where Cyrill farmed. In 1956, they moved to a farm north of Crete where they raised their four children, Brad, Barb, Anne and Cyrill Robert. He enjoyed farming until his retirement in 2002.

Cyrill loved polka dancing, making wine, traveling, and going to casinos. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially Pitch and Pinochle. Cyrill was a longtime member of St. Mary ‘s Catholic Church in Denton, Nebraska, Knights of Columbus and Polka of A Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jean; son, Bradley; three brothers, Victor and wife, Annabelle Kovar, Gary Kovar, and Larry Kovar; two sisters, Gladys Roebke and husband, Lloyd and Betsy Fletcher; two sisters-in-law, Toni Sue Bohac and Kathy Fiedler.

Survivors cherishing Cyrill’s memory include his two daughters, Barb and husband, Jason Eastman, North Platte, Nebraska, Anne and husband, Jason Tidblom, Waterloo, Nebraska; son, Cyrill Robert and wife, Jessica Kovar, Southport, North Carolina; nine grandchildren: Sarah Kovar, Aaron Kovar, Lynn Fast and fiancé, Travis Sylvester, Heather and husband, Nick Maxcy, Terra and husband, Heath Zuellner, Josh Holmes, Landon Holmes, Hillary Kovar, Raquel Tidblom; 21 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dan and wife, Delta Kovar, Ernie Kovar and Jeanne Frentz, David and wife, Jean Kovar; two sisters-in-law, Vi Kovar, Judy Kovar; three brothers-in-law, Charles Fletcher, Richard Bohac, Wayne Fiedler and Cyrill’s special friend, Ramona Svoboda and her son, Kevin and wife, Jill Svoboda and their children, Wyatt and Olivia.
