David L. "Dave" Fitzpatrick was born on October 14, 1950, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Dan and Lottie (Schroeder) Fitzpatrick and passed away on September 22, 2022, in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 8 days.
David was raised on a farm near Branched Oak Lake and attended a one-room school through the 6 th grade, he then attended 7 th and 8 th grade in Valparaiso. He graduated from Wahoo Neumann High School and went on to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he studied and received his bachelor's degree in business. David was united in marriage to Sherry Oltman on June 11, 1971, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. To this union two daughters were born, Kerry and Samantha.
Dave and his wife, Sherry, owned and operated the Milford Dairy Queen from 1974 to 1976, and later took over the Seward Dairy Queen from 1980 to 2022. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, going on trips to play golf and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Dave loved to take his grandchildren on road trips and share stories of when he was growing up.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Cheryl Fitzpatrick.
Survivors cherishing his memory include his wife, Sherry Fitzpatrick, Seward; daughters, Kerry and husband, Clint Peterson, York, Samantha Fitzpatrick, Seward; grandchildren, Kaylie Smith, Declan and Dax Peterson; brothers, Don and wife, Peggy Fitzpatrick, Papillion, Jerry and wife, Jan Fitzpatrick, Ogallala; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marilyn (Jay) Oxton, Vicki Kai, Lori (Jim) Rausch; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of a life shared with Dave.
