Dean Lester Lewis was born April 15, 1931 in Humphrey, Nebraska to Raymond Lester and Mildred Marie (Walters) Lewis and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on March 3, 2011 at the age of 79 years, 10 months, 18 days. The family moved from Humphrey to York, Nebraska in 1942 and Dean was a 1948 graduate of York High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country from 1948 through 1952 in the Korean War. On July 14, 1960, Dean was united in marriage to Dorothy Elfrida Braasch at Faith Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Scott and Julie. Dean was employed with the Federal Aviation Administration in the radar installation and repairs area for 31 years, retiring in 1986. Dean was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, VFW Post No. 4755 in Seward, Bolton American Legion Post No. 19 in York, the NRA and Isaak Walton League in Seward. Dean enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting trap. Dean is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mildred Lewis; brother, Dale Lewis, sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Don Mowitz; brother-in-law, Roger Watkins. Dean is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lewis of Seward; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Michelle Lewis of Seward; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Chad Ruzicka of Council Bluffs, IA; grandchildren, Tara Lewis, Hailey Lewis, Nathan Lewis, Paige Ruzicka, Grace Ruzicka, Claire Ruzicka, Reese Ruzicka; sister, Sharon Watkins of Omaha and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Dean. |
