Deloris May (Landenberger) Hemphill was born May 17, 1921 on a farm near Utica, Nebraska to Clyde and Dorothy (Shirley) Landenberger. She was a 1938 graduate of Utica High School. On January 15, 1941, Deloris was united in marriage to Dale Pickering Hemphill and to this union seven children were born: Jerry, Jimmy Lee, Gene, Steve, Jack, Vickie and Rick. Deloris was a devoted mother and homemaker. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, collecting dolls, knick knacks and many other collectibles. For the past 9 years she had a special friendship with Pete Harris. During her last days in the hospital it was her request to her family to Take Me Home and she was granted that wish as she passed away at her home in Utica and went to meet her Lord on May 16, 2008, one day shy of her 87th birthday. Deloris was a member of the Utica United Methodist Church. Preceding Deloris in death were her husband, Dale Hemphill in 1993; her parents, Clyde and Dorothy Landenberger; an infant son, Jimmy Lee; three brothers, Darrell, Neil and Donald Landenberger and a great-granddaughter, Shaynelle Hemphill. Deloris is survived by her children and their spouses, Jerry and Lyn Hemphill, Utica, Gene and Marilyn Hemphill, Seward, Steve and Deb Hemphill, Staplehurst, Jack Hemphill, Lincoln, Vickie and Richard Novak, Seward, Rick and Deb Hemphill, Utica; 16 grandchildren, Cheyenne Hemphill, Todd Hemphill, Val Pilfold, Lori Pilfold, Stacy Tempel, Krista Fernau, Justin Hemphill, Jaime Hemphill, Jackson Hemphill, Josh Hemphill, Korri Junge, Nicholas Hemphill, DeeDee Wilkinson, C.J. Novak, Mandy Hemphill, Emily Hemphill; 20 great-grandchildren; siblings and spouses, Eunice Welch, Homeland, CA, Jean Craig, Hendersonville, TN, Shirley Daniels, Lakewood, CA, Lee and Mary Landenberger, Hawarden, IA, Ray and Judy Landenberger, Diller, NE, Janet Pearsall, Las Vegas, NV, Sandra Peters, Stromsburg; brother-in-law and spouse, Don and Norma Hemphill, Seward; special friend, Pete Harris, Utica and his children, Michael and Patti Harris, Aurora, CO, Stephen and Debbie Harris, Camden, AR, Debbra and Donald Woznick, Lakewood, CO; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
