After graduating from Beaver Crossing High School in 1952, DeLoris furthered her education at Concordia Teachers College, receiving a teaching certificate. She taught at Walnut Creek District #16 country school near Beaver Crossing for two years. DeLoris was united in marriage to Lyle Zimmer on August 22, 1953 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Goehner. To their union two sons, Steven and Michael and one daughter, Amy were born.

DeLoris was baptized on September 9, 1934 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on March 21, 1948 at St. John Lutheran Church, Seward. She remained faithful to her Christian commitment by teaching Sunday School and Bible School for many years.

Together Lyle and DeLoris farmed in the Beaver Crossing area. They built a new home in 1979 on their farm. DeLoris relished her position in life as a grandmother to six grandchildren, giving individual interest and attention to each. Attending their many activities and sports events was a highlight in her life.

DeLoris was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and LWML. Other memberships included Beaver Crossing American Legion Auxiliary #178, "N" Homemakers, Kensington and serving as a volunteer at the VA Hospital for many years.

DeLoris passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 in York, Nebraska at the age of 82 years, 4 months,   11 days.

DeLoris was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Anna Bluhm; her brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Jeanne Bluhm and brother, Don Bluhm.

Survivors cherishing DeLoris's memory include her husband, Lyle Zimmer, rural Beaver Crossing; children and spouses, Steven and Bernita Zimmer, Plattsmouth, Mike and LaShelle Zimmer, Syracuse, Amy and Dalen Meisinger, York; six grandchildren, Amber (Ryan) Wilkins, Patrick (Jessica) Zimmer, Landon Zimmer, Savannah Zimmer, Logan Meisinger, Emily Meisinger; one great-granddaughter, Alexi Wilkins; sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Loyd Erks, Utica; sister-in-law, Betty Bluhm, Lincoln; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
