Dina Margaret Augusta (Rathjen) Ladwig was born November 13, 1923 in Ulysses, Nebraska to John W., Sr. and Frieda (Buck) Rathjen and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on October 2, 2008 at the age of 84 years, 10 months, 19 days. Dina attended school through the 8th grade at Immanuel Lutheran School (Millerton) by Rising City and later completed her high school education through GED. On December 1, 1946, Dina was united in marriage to Lyle Duane William Ladwig at David City. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Donald, Nancy and Jane. They farmed north of Garrison for 2 years, for 6 years near Shelby and for 6 years northeast of Garland and they moved to Seward in 1963. Dina worked at housekeeping for a couple of years and then worked for Dr. Eckler in David City for many years. Dina was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and plants. Dina was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. Dina was preceded in death by her parents, John W., Sr. and Frieda Rathjen; her husband, Lyle Ladwig in 1994; a granddaughter, Brandy Ladwig and brother-in-law, Elmer Kahler. Dina is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Janie Ladwig of Arvada, CO; daughters, Nancy Wiersig of Decatur, IL and Jane Pallat of Seward; six grandchildren, Chad Ladwig, Melissa Wiersig, Mindy and John Fischer, Michelle Wiersig, Joe and Michelle Pallat, Jeff and Leah Pallat,; six great-grandchildren, Laurence Fischer, Maccenna Fischer, Alexis Pallat, Danielle Pallat, Parker Pallat, Lillian Pallat; her sister, Marcella Kahler of Lincoln; brothers and sisters-in-law, Duane and Tryus Rathjen of Seward, John and Darlene Rathjen of Garland, Eugene and Linda Rathjen of York, Curtis Rathjen of Milford, Keith and Irene Rathjen of Bee; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends, especially the dear ones at Seward Manor. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Dina. |
