Don Lee Hagemoser was born March 14, 1931 in Seward, Nebraska to Carl Ernst Frederick and Pauline Laurice (Ashton) Hagemoser and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on August 28, 2008 at the age of 77 years, 5 months, 14 days. Don was a 1949 graduate of Seward High School and was a member of the 1949 Seward Class B State High School Basketball Championship team. Don served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. On January 7, 1951, Don was united in marriage to Jeanne McBride and their marriage was blessed with three children, Kelly, Denny and J.Don. Don was a painter with his father for many years. Don had a 33-year career with the U.S Postal Service in Seward. He retired in the Fall of 1986 as Superintendent of Postal Operations. Don's wife, Jeanne passed away in 1981. Don was united in marriage to Elaine (Bachmann) Burge on September 10, 1983 in Omaha. Don was a 50-year member of the Seward United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Seward Volunteer Fire Department and was formerly a member of the Seward Area Jaycees, where he served as President and was also State President. Don coached Seward Legion Baseball and was a longtime manager/coach for the Seward Blue Valley Baseball Team. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Hagemoser; his parents, Carl and Pauline Hagemoser; sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne and Arnold Niederschmidt; granddaughter, Amy Lyn Carr; brother-in-law, Max Pettijohn; mother-in-law, Velma Beach; son-in-law, Larry McIntosh. Don is survived by his wife, Elaine Hagemoser, Seward; his children and spouses, Kelly and Mike Stahly, Lincoln, Denny and Steve Carr, Seward, J.Don Corky and Lori Hagemoser, Lincoln; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Wendell Rivers, San Antonio, TX; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sharon and Gary Jelinek, Seward; father-in-law, Don Beach, Seward; step-children and spouses, Gary and Julie Burge, Lawson, MO, Candy McIntosh, Omaha, Beth and Barry Bliss, Grants Pass, OR, Mark and Candy Burge, Lincoln; special friends, Char and Brian Becker and family, Seward; other relatives and a host of friends.
