Donald Dean Erks was born August 13, 1943 in York, Nebraska to Rozella Sally Abrahams and was adopted by Elmer J. Erks in 1958. Don passed away on February 19, 2008 in Pleasant Dale, Nebraska at the age of 64 years, 6 months, 6 days. Don moved to the Seward area in 1953 and attended Seward High School. He was a graduate of Hamilton College in Lincoln where he received a Culinary Arts degree and was employed at several food establishments. Don was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward and was an active participant in the Martial Arts Academy in Seward. He enjoyed animals, particularly dogs and feeding geese. Don was preceded in death by his mother, Rozella; his grandparents, James and Emma Abrahams and John and Anna Erks; one grandson; a niece, Tandra Dowling; and a nephew, Patrick Stevens. Don is survived by his wife, Maxine Erks of Seward; father, Elmer J. Erks, Seward; twin sister, Donna Jean and husband, John Stevens of Pleasant Dale; son, Larry Erks of Lincoln; daughter, Lori Peterson of Beaver City; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Jenny Erks of Fremont; daughter, Melissa Hartman of Arizona; sons, Donald Hartman and Timothy Hartman, both of Nebraska; stepdaughters, Teresa and Doug Rempel of Greeley, CO and Jessie Walker of Seward; stepson, Ted Anderson of Colorado Springs, CO; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Don. |
