Donald Dean Minzel was born October 23, 1931 rural Emerald, Nebraska to Harry Reinhold and Katie S. (Busboom) Minzel and passed away on July 12, 2010 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 78 years, 8 months, 20 days. Donald was baptized November 8, 1931 and confirmed April 21, 1946 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Lincoln, where he was a lifetime member. Donald attended rural School District #80. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean War from 1951-1955. On September 5, 1953, Donald was united in marriage to Elsie Neva Frahm at Parks Air Force Base in Pleasanton, California. Since December of 1955, Donald and Elsie farmed in the Emerald area. Donald was a former volunteer with the Malcolm Fire Department, served on the District 80 School Board, was a member of the Emerald Elevator Board and was the county manager for Archer Oil Company for 34 years. Donald was also a member of Pleasant Dale American Legion Post #354 and VFW Post #131 in Lincoln. Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Katie Minzel; his brother, Virgil Minzel; brothers-in-law, George Brodie, and Glen, Walter, Henry and Alan Frahm; sister-in-law, Dorothy Gohde, and a nephew, Kevin Minzel. Donald is survived by his wife, Elsie of rural Lincoln; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Bruce Schulz of Lincoln, Marilyn and Ron Robinson of Lincoln; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Teri Minzel of rural Lincoln, Arlan and Tammy Minzel of Lincoln, Kenneth and Kristie Minzel of rural Lincoln; grandchildren, Justin (Nicki) Schulz, Joshua Schulz (fiance, Jillian), Jessica (Mike) Schwab, Melissa Robinson (fiance, Travis Seeley), Natalie (Dave) Sehi, Nicholas (Nicole) Minzel, Travis (Alicia) Minzel, Marcus Minzel (friend, Jessi), Brennan Minzel (friend Lauren), Kassee Minzel, Mavrick Minzel (friend Lauren), Brooklyn Minzel; great-grandchildren, Hudson, Haley and Logan Schulz, Ashlynn, Camry, and Shyann Sehi, Jaxson Minzel and Parker Minzel; sisters-in law and brothers-in law, Martha Brodie, Viola and Gene Murray, Albert and Jackie Frahm, Russell Frahm, Reed Frahm, and George Gohde, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
