Donald Dean Munson was born February 11, 1932 at the farm home in Chase Country, Nebraska to Bert and Alice (Benson) Munson and passed away on November 10, 2007, in Lincoln, Nebraska surrounded with the love of his family at the age of 75 years, 8 months, 28 days. Don attended rural Chase County and Champion School growing up around the Imperial, Nebraska area. Don served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War in the heavy equipment detail. After returning from the military, Don worked for Chase County on Road Maintenance with his father. Don was united in marriage to Sandra Jean Schoonover on October 20, 1972 and to this union two children were born, Alison and Jeff. Don and Sandy lived in Milford all 35 years of their marriage. Don was a truck driver for many years; he drove coast to coast and did local driving with Lincoln Prestress, Nebraska Bulk, J.T.I./U.S. Express. He worked for the Seward County Department of Roads as a gravel truck and maintainer operator and also drove for Omega in York and Stauffer Brothers of Milford. Don enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, he liked playing cards, fishing and watching old time television shows and rodeos. Don had many dogs in his life, but his special joys have been Diesel and Ford. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Alice Munson; his brother, Jack Munson; sister-in-law, Mary Munson; brother-in-law, Jack Schoonover; sisters-in-law, Fern Schoonover and Mae Uhrich; and his parents-in-law, Jeff and Huldah Schoonover. Don is survived by his wife, Sandy Munson of Milford; his son, Jeff Munson and special Friend, Dawn Vickery of Milford; his daughter and son-in-law, Alison and Layne Riley of Beaver Crossing; his grandchildren, Kegan, Kendra, Cordell, and Colin of Beaver Crossing; his brother, Kenneth Munson of Elwood, Nebraska; sister, Nyla Kern of Lincoln; sisters-in-law, Joyce Schoonover of Idaho Falls, ID; brother-in-law and spouse, Ted and Kitty Schoonover of Farmington, MN; sister-in-law and spouse, Joyce and Craig Urbauer of Falls Church, VA; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Don. |
