Donald Eugene Policky was born on February 27, 1936, at the family farm near Bee, NE, to Leonard John and Wilma Stazie (Pelan) Policky and passed away peacefully on April 27, 2019, in Seward at the age of 83 years and 2 months.
Don grew up south of Bee where he attended District 28 country school, he then attended Bee School. Don graduated from Seward High School with the Class of 1954. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Bee. Don farmed for several years before enlisting into the U.S. Army on January 11, 1958. He served 7 months before being transferred to the Army National Guard of Nebraska. Don was honorably discharged from the National Guard on December 8, 1963. Don was united in marriage to Katherine Anderly on September 8, 1959, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City, to this union three children were born. Don continued to farm and also worked at Walkers (Tenneco) for 26 years. He later worked at Plains Equipment for 10 years until his retirement. Don loved playing the drums. He played in the Policky Trio and Policky Orchestra from 1960 -1990. Don was a member of the Bee Volunteer Fire Department, Bee Elevator Board and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Vic, Bob, Aldon, Edward; sister, Lorraine Rezac.
Don is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kathy; three children, Scott James Policky, Seward, Jodi Marie Pelan and husband Arthur, Brainard, Pamela Kay Krenk and husband Jeff, Seward; eight grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; brother, Leslie Policky and wife Theresa, Ackward, GA; sister, Dorothy Vanis and husband Fritz, David City. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of a life shared with Don.
