Calvin Temps married Vivian Cline on August 30, 1946. Calvin was a railroad man with a face like Henry Fonda, a vernacular saturated with swear words, fresh out of the European theatre in World War II. Vivian was a nursing cadet, a five-alarm fire, ballroom dancing, adventurous seamstress oozing with creativity. The infusion and multiplication of the attributes of these two incredible people occurred in a gift to the world known as the enigma that is their third daughter, Donna Louise Temps.

Donna was born on Wednesday, November 28, 1951, in Omaha, Nebraska. Her younger years were spent barefoot with Barbies in hand, the dolls, as well as Donna, adorned in her mother's handmade fashion creations. Family outings primarily consisted of traveling to dog shows and obedience classes with their champion German Shepherds and Springer Spaniels, laying the groundwork for her unwavering adoration of animals. Donna and family would move to Lincoln in her early teens. She would graduate from Lincoln Southeast High School as a spitfire, active member of the pep squad and social scene. Donna excelled in keeping her room messy, her eye makeup on point, hot chick dancing, hiding her cigarettes and rock and roll albums from her folks, and waiting through several lackluster relationships for the thing that happened next...

In August of 1973, in a chance meeting at none other than the still-standing Royal Grove, the brunette bombshell would notice a guy from Columbus, Nebraska, who happened to be noticing her. That man is none other than Richard Munson. A handful of dates later, Donna would tell her bestie, Diane Carlson, that she had "finally met the guy for me." And she was not wrong. Rich, with his quick wit, responsible demeanor, athletic build and "oh boy was he ever persistent," as she would later state, met his match in the blue-eyed babe from Omaha. He would later attest that her exuberance and infectious love of life would "bring him out of his shell."  Rich and Donna got married on October 19, 1974.

Their first child, Jennifer, was born in June of 1981, followed by Sara in July of 1985. Donna was born to be a mother. She doted on the girls, putting her mother's skillset to work in crafting handmade costumes for the girls for Halloween every year. She became an expert at patching up perpetually skinned knees, splinter removal without the use of a dreaded needle (RICHARD), hugging away bad dreams with unmatched swiftness and absolutely annihilating her girls at Doctor Mario without mercy, and at every given opportunity. Summer days were spent driving Jenny and Sara to the local swimming pool literally every day, weather permitting, where she would sit each morning without fail, watching them practice for the dive team. Evenings were spent picking them up, the summer breeze in her silky, dark hair, sunlight streaming through her signature Jackie O tortoise shell sunglasses. During said trips, Donna also became a master mediator, breaking up sibling squabbles with such senatorial phrases such as, "don't you make me pull this car over" or, "how about you both shut up," at which point the girls, would in fact, miraculously shut up.

There is simply no physical way Donna could have loved her family more than she did. Jenny and Sara, led by the infallible example of their father, Rich, returned a fraction of the ferocity of her love and dedication as disease would attempt to put out the fiery spirit of the woman at the heart of their family.

But Donna's fire burned too hot to be extinguished. It was fueled by the love of her life, Rich, opening up windows into her soul with Sir Paul McCartney concerts, Sunday morning drives around the neighborhood, and lunches at Famous Dave's. She relished each time one of her girls would stop by with some wayward rescue pup, all of which were as enamored with Donna as she was of them.

Ironically, Donna would comment over the years about her envy of her husband and daughters' athleticism. How she wished she had been able to have had an opportunity to compete or had the physical capacity to do so. As fate would have it, Donna is the greatest athlete and competitor any of them had ever encountered both on TV and in real life. She spent a staggering 26 years in the ring with cancer, strokes, dementia… the list goes on and on. And each time it would knock her down, she would climb back up, against insurmountable odds, and keep fighting. On May 26, 2023, Donna would deliver the last blow, the last middle finger to disease, the final punch at a monster that would have brought anyone else to their knees decades before. Surrounded by her family and friends, Donna finally escaped the confines of a body that consistently failed her, and slipped back into the sweet freedom of the universe from which she came.

Donna's victory immediately and joyfully reunited her with her parents, Calvin and Vivian; her beloved in-laws, Roy and Lucille Munson of Columbus, Nebraska; brother-in-law, David C. Munson of Carrollton, Georgia, and her well-loved, but rarely well-behaved dogs, Midge, Kasy and Kaya, her fearless protector. She fights on in the wry, mischievous smile of her granddaughter, Stella, Jennifer and Sara's volunteer work in animal rescue and the kindness and love forever swelling Rich's heart.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you hug your family, drink a margarita (or any blue drink, really), listen to Frankie Valli a little too loud, and take a chance on a homeless pet.
