Doris Mae Davis was born on January 3, 1925, at Talmage, NE; to Arnold and Amelia (Frerichs) Guthals. and passed away on December 16, 2012, in Seward, NE; at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 13 days. Doris graduated from Talmage high School in 1942, and attended business college at Lincoln School of Commerce. She married Lyle L. Davis on June 3, 1956, at Sheridan Lutheran (Mission) Church in Lincoln. They lived and farmed 3 1/2 miles southeast of Beaver Crossing until 1987, when they moved into Beaver Crossing. In 2006, they moved to Seward. Doris was a member of the United Methodist Church of Beaver Crossing and Kensington. She was also a former member of the "N" Homemakers Extension Club. Doris and Lyle attended many sports events, and especially enjoyed the ones in which family members participated. They were honored in receiving the Centennial Sports Fan Award in 1993-1994. Doris is survived by her son: John W and wife Virginia Davis of Beaver Crossing, NE; six grandchildren: Dean and wife Debi Davis of Utica, NE; Darin and wife Kelly Davis of Omaha, NE; David and wife Tarsha Davis of Plattsmouth, NE; Jeff and wife Chasity Bluhm of Milford, NE; Kyle and wife Jayme Bluhm of Bennington, NE; and Stacy and husband Greg Nuttelman of Stromsburg, NE; 19 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband: Lyle, daughter and son-in-law: Jeanne and Gary Bluhm, great granddaughter: Josie Lea Bluhm, and her mother Amelia Guthals. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Zabka Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Beaver Crossing United Methodist Church with Pastor Betsy Galloway-Carew officiating. Burial will follow at Beaver Crossing Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Beaver Crossing United Methodist Church or Ridgewood Rehab and Care Center in care of Davis family.
