Doris Virginia Lostroh was born on September 2, 1923, at their home in Pleasant Dale, Nebraska to Harry and Lydia (Kubes) Oxley and passed away on January 30, 2024, in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 100 years, 4 months, and 28 days.

Doris attended school in Pleasant Dale, from first grade through high school, then went on to attend the University of Nebraska and taught in rural schools for seven years. On May 25, 1949, she was united in marriage to Vernon F. Lostroh and to this union two daughters were born, Sheralyn and Kimberly. They lived on a farm north of Pleasant Dale.

Doris was a full-time pianist at the Pleasant Dale Methodist Church where she was a member before she was married. In later years, she served as a substitute pianist, and served as a choir accompanist for the Conestoga Parish Choir. In 2001, Doris and Vernon moved to The Landing at Williamsburg Village in Lincoln. At The Landing, Doris was one of the pianists for chapel services. When "The Silver Chords" choir was organized at The Landing in 2012, Doris was the accompanist for the first four years. She was then a member of the choir as well as the newly formed chime choir. With her piano partner, Elly Brockmeier, Doris enjoyed playing for programs at other retirement facilities.

Doris was a member of the Peppy Dames Extension Club and a member of the Pleasant Dale American Legion Auxiliary since 1953.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Vernon Lostroh (2013).

She is survived by her two daughters, Sheralyn Cox and Kimberly Mills; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leon and Diane Lostroh.
