Doris Jean Rolofson was born on August 25, 1937 in Burwell, NE; to Orville Oliver and Eva Magdalene (Weber) Cuddeback and passed away on September 18, 2017 in Seward at the age of 80 years, and 24 days. The family lived in Taylor, Grand Island and moved to Seward in 1952. Doris attended Howard Elementary School through the 6th grade and Walnut Junior High 7th through 9th grade. The family moved to Seward when she was a sophomore and she graduated from Seward High School in 1955. She was employed as a bookkeeper for the Seward Egg Plant in Seward directly out of high school, quitting after the birth of her first baby. After the death of her first husband, she was employed as Administrative Secretary at Memorial Hospital here in Seward, retiring after the birth of her third baby.

She married Rollin Stuart Rolofson in Seward, Nebraska on September 18, 1976. They combined their families from previous marriages, Richard, Jane, Kevin, Kent and Rita. A son, Nathan was born to Rollin and Doris in 1979.

Doris thoroughly enjoyed being a homemaker, loved music and played the organ at churches in Seward and Goehner. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and then United Church of Christ. She was an ordained deacon and later an elder. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles also.

She was a Majority Member Order of the Rainbow for Girls Grand Island Assembly No. 13. Later she became Mother Advisor to Seward Assembly No. 29 and received the honor of Grand Cross of Colors. She belonged to Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 156 and served twice as Worthy Matron. She later joined OES Chapters 199 and 132. She also was a member of Naphis Temple No. 66 Daughters of the Nile and Life Member Ladies Auxiliary to VFW No 4755.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rollin, her first husband Curtis Christensen who died in 1962, son Joel Dean Christensen (two weeks old) who died in 1960 and sister-in-law Iona Rolofson.

Doris is survived by her children Rita Christensen, Nathan Rolofson, Richard Rolofson and wife Murfy Powell, Jane and husband David Patterson, Kevin and wife Cheryl Rolofson and Kent Rolofson; grandchildren Cole, Connor, Claire, Carsten, Marcia, Lara and Eric; and brother-in-law Lawrence Rolofson.  To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Doris.

Her body is being donated to the Nebraska Anatomical Board and burial will be at a later date.
