Doris Pearl Russell was born on September 9, 1925, in Lyons, Nebraska to Pearl (Mayberry) and Frank Badje and passed away on November 24, 2018, in Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 15 days.
Doris grew up in the Burt County where she attended Mount Pleasant School and later graduated from Tekamah High School with the Class of 1942. Doris was united in marriage to Billy Eugene Potter in June of 1944. Doris was widowed when Billy tragically died in an automobile accident on February 21, 1948, leaving Doris and three young girls. Doris later married Clifford Charles Russell on October 1, 1955, in Dakota City, Nebraska. The couple farmed near Tekamah, North Bend, Bennington, Herman and Craig until 1959, when Cliff began working at the Grain Elevator in Tekamah. The couple moved to Tekamah in the mid 1970's. Cliff retired in 1980. The couple moved to Seward 1993 to be closer to family. Doris loved embroidery; quilting and being with her family and watching her grandchildren grow up. She also enjoyed reading and going to coffee with her friends and relatives. Doris moved to Arizona in June 2017 to be with her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Billy, February 21, 1948, Clifford, September 13, 1993; one grandson; one great granddaughter; two daughters, Bonnie (Potter) Summers, April 29, 2005, Phyllis (Potter) White, February 3, 2017; two step daughters, Lavhon (Russell) Pahlke, 2009, Janet Kay (Russell) Miller, 2007; sister, Goldie (Badje) Payne; brother Willard (Bud) Badje.
Doris is survived by four children, Judy and husband David Woodward, Phoenix, AZ, Jacqueline and husband Bryant Shaw, Phoenix, AZ, Rodney Russell, Chandler, AZ, and Roger Russell, Peoria, AZ; step daughter, Mayone (Russell) Japp, Washington, NE; 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great, great-granddaughter. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Doris.
