IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy "Dottie"
Brooks
March 11, 1930 – December 30, 2021
Dorothy Mae (Berry) Brooks was born on March 11, 1930, in Boston, Massachusetts to Edward and Sarah (Burley) Berry and passed away on December 30, 2021, in Lincoln, Nebraska at The Journey House, surrounded by her family, at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 19 days.
Dottie was baptized into the Christian faith on March 15, 1930, at St. Peter's Church in Dorchester, MA and was confirmed on November 12, 2006, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Malcolm, NE.
Dottie met the love of her life, a handsome sailor named Wesley Fay Brooks, in Boston and they were united in marriage on April 22, 1950, in Elizabeth City, NC. To this union three children were born, Wesley Jr., Deborah and John.
Dottie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She unselfishly supported her spouse throughout his military career. Wes's 30 year stint in the US Navy took him, Dottie and the children to stations including Port Smith, Virginia; Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Key West, FL; Lexington, KY; Jacksonville, FL and Lincoln, NE to name a few. Upon their retirement in 1971, Wes and Dottie put down roots in Malcolm, NE. In her younger years, Dottie was a licensed beautician, an avid bowler and she loved to dance. In more recent times, she cherished visits with friends and family, playing cards and attending Bible Study at St. Paul's.
She was preceded by her husband of 53 years, Wes; son, Wesley Jr.; sister, Jacquelyne Ferguson-Zaccaria; twin brother, J. Edward Berry; and parents, Edward and Sarah.
Survivors cherishing her memory include her children and spouses, Debbie Berg and husband, Mike, John Brooks and wife, Nicole; daughter-in-law, Celia Brooks-Thomas; grandchildren, Jennifer, Wesley III, Christina, Cottie, Amanda, Josh and Shelby; 12 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
